Life
The proper function of government is to protect our individual right to life, liberty, and property. I believe that life begins at conception, and it is unconscionable that government would sanction the taking of the helpless and innocent.
As an OB/GYN for more than twenty-five years, I have been fortunate to deliver more than 9,000 babies and in 2010 I was asked to review and give a declaratory statement of North Carolina’s Women’s Right to Know Act by the North Carolina House Majority Leader.
I’ve served as a Board Member of Hand of Hope, a pregnancy support group in Fuquay-Varina, NC, and I’m a proud member of American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
As a Senator, I will always vote against government funding of abortion and will fight to protect life at all stages. I will always vote for any and all legislation that would end abortion or lead us in the direction of ending abortion.
I believe that while we are working toward this goal, there are many other things we can accomplish in the near term. We may be able to save millions of lives in the near future by allowing states to pass their own anti-abortion laws. If states were able to do so, I sincerely believe many – including North Carolina — would do so tomorrow, saving hundreds of thousands of lives.
I would support legislation, a Sanctity of Life Amendment, establishing the principle that life begins at conception. This legislation would recognize life at conception in law, as a scientific statement.
As your Senator, there are many ways I can help end abortion. I will fight for each and every one of them.
